Overview

AirFrance Partnership

FTools is developed in partnership with Air France Technic

Floor Structure Analysis

FTools is an online application dedicated to Aircraft floor structure analysis.

FTools is able to handle Standard (OEM driven) analysis and Non-standard Analysis.

Per-Aircraft modules

Ftools handles OEM-driven analysis based on Aircraft Modules :

  • B777
  • A350 (in progress)

LOPA Creation

Easy and visual LOPA creation through a modern web interface.

Deliverables

  • Automatic docx report
  • Detailed spreadsheets
  • eventually a Finite Element Model

Standard Analysis

Use cases

Standard (or OEM-driven) Analysis are dedicated to standard cabin configurations with rows of seats more or less aligned.

Three standard zones for an hybrid LOPA

B777 Standard Analysis Modules

Running Shear Loads

Standard seats introduce Fx load on seat track transferred by shear flow in the floor panels of the cabin.

Cumulative Shear Loads

Check is performed to ensure that the transversal shear build up doesn’t exceed cabin floor panel allowable.

Seat Tracks under side loads

Lateral loading introduced on seat track is checked against basic check and considerable side-loads check

Vertical Loading

Standard seats can generate high Fz load on seat track at their FWD and AFT legs location

Cumulative Vertical Loading

Additionally to individual Z load introduced by standard seat legs, an additional check is performed to ensure that vertical load build up doesn’t exceed transverse floor beam allowable

Individual Seat Weight Analysis

Seat Row mass analysis

Non-standard Analysis

Some criteria cannot be passed directly when installation deviates from the Boeing standard D6-36238.

Use Cases

Regular Cabin with Shells

Two non-standard zones for an hybrid LOPA

VIP Cabin

A VIP cabin (with bed, Hi-Lo Table, etc) can be fully analyzed using Non-standard analysis, as long as loads are introduced in seat-tracks.

Additional seat-tracks and hard points under consideration.

Methodology

A non-standard analysis is based on a Finite Elements Model of the floor structure. Bending moments and shear forces are then compared against cabin configurations know to pass.

A comparative analysis with a valid standard PAX seat installation is carried out. This comparative analysis is supported by a FE model of the floor structure with one model being loaded with the non standard seat installation to justify and the other one loaded by a valid standard seat installation. The substantiation methodology depends on the floor structural element.

Seat Tracks, crossbeams, etc…

All the bar elements bending moments and shear forces are compared against a set of heavy standard PAX.

Stanchion beams and clips are idealized as CBUSH, and relevant values are compared against references.

Shear Panel Analysis

A dedicated FEA is performed for shear Panel and compared to Boeing B777 allowable.
